Flowery Vases

Hi there!  Today's card was originally made with two challenges in mind - The Colour Throwdown and The Paper Players.  Unfortunately I didn't get it posted on time for The Colour Throwdown but I figured I'd give a shout out to their colour palette anyway.  :) My vases look really blue in this photo but they're actually Tempting Turquoise.  This Paper Smooches set is one of the few that I use over and over.  I love those flowers and the vases.  I wish more of my other sets inspired me this much!  I'm also going to enter this card in the Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge!

Brighter Days

Boy did I struggle with photographing this card today.  I could not get a good result using my little light tent and even after playing with it in Photoshop I still couldn't get it to look right - it was very lilac!  I finally broke down and took a picture in my kitchen.  Despite the photo issues I had fun putting it together and I'm going to enter it in the current CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  I managed to mix and match dies from 4 different companies and used a fifth for the sentiment.  I love it when crafty goodies play so nicely together!  :)

Balloons and Bread

Good evening!  I have a couple of cards to share today.  The first card is a last minute entry for the current Fusion challenge and also for the shades of blue challenge at The Male Room.  I was inspired by both the photo and the sketch at the Fusion challenge.  I used two different blue woodgrain papers for the balloons to keep the feel of the card masculine for The Male Room.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Midnight Muse) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (On The Bright Side) My Mind's Eye
Stamps:  (Happy from Super Script) Altenew
Inks:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Dies:  (Balloons) Simon Says Stamp, (Birthday) Papertrey Ink
Twine:  Darice

My second card uses the colours from the current ColourQ challenge and the sketch from RetroSketches. Valentine's Day is fast approaching and this (retired) Sweet Stamp Shop set is one of my favourites for the occasion.  It's gotten progressively colder, windier and rainier as the day has gone by which means the snow and nasty weather on the East Coast must be ramping up as well.  Hang in there and stay safe and warm!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Kraft_) Papertrey Ink), (Coastal Cabana, Chocolate Chip) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Perfect Match) Sweet Stamp Shop
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Strawberry Slush) Stampin' Up
Dies:  (Stitched Squares) Lil' Inker
Gems:  (Bon Bon assortment) Doodlebug
Markers:  (R85, E35, E77) Copic

Patterns of Love

Hello hello!  It's a breezy, chilly day here - perfect for some crafty time!  I've got a card for five challenges today:  Just Us Girls (photo inspiration),  Addicted to Stamps (holiday challenge), Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Have a Heart), The Card Concept (Love) and Time Out (Valentine's Day w/ optional twist of hearts).

I die cut these Avery Elle shapes from Echo Park paper and inlaid the hearts into the rounded diamonds.  Then I added an Avery Elle sentiment and some tiny gems.  It's  a super simple CAS design - my favourite!  Hope you've all had a lovely weekend.  See you tomorrow!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill

Stamps:  (Sentiment from Oh Yeah) Avery Elle

Challenge Balloons

Hi there!  I have a card for the latest edition of The Challenge.  I started out by using the colours and the sketch but then I mounted my balloon strip on a black card base so I guess that knocks me out of the colour portion of the challenge.  :)  I do love red, teal and yellow together though so I may give this another try.  Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (All from Birthday Style) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko, (Red Royal, Butter Bar, Tide Pool) Hero Arts

That's it for me.  Hope you have a lovely day!

CASology #130

Welcome to Week 130 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I love this Mama Elephant sentiment.  In fact, I think I bought this stamp set purely because of it but have I used it yet?  Of course not.  So I was thrilled to see this week's cue word because it gave me the perfect opportunity to ink it up (as well as another chance to enter Darnell's NBUS challenge!).

I knew I wanted to pair two little critters with the sentiment but it took a lot of flipping through bins of stamps before I finally landed on these Lawn Fawn birdies (also NBUS).  The idea of these two little guys as gangstas totally cracks me up!  I bet they could be badass if they needed to be…

Anyway, now it's your turn to show us how the word friend inspires you.  Hop on over to the CASology page to check out the brilliant inspiration from the Design Team gals and then play along!

Back on Track

It's been almost two months now since I've posted anything here besides CASology cards.  There's been a lot going on and some big changes are coming (which I'll talk about in a future post) but for now I'll just say that I'm hoping to get back to posting more regularly.  I've been playing along with challenges and making plenty of cards but just haven't been spending much time at the computer so I haven't shared them.

I'm jumping back in now with two cards.  The first one is for two challenges - ColourQ and RetroSketches.  I used a lot of old Papertrey Ink goodies for this card.  None of them are NBUS but they're some of the earliest products I bought.  I also used a scrap of ribbon which probably won't happen again for another 3 years!  LOL!

The second card is for the current Time Out Challenge where we were given a photo for inspiration.  I think it's pretty clear how I was inspired!  LOL!  I love the bright pops of colour against the woodgrain and I'm always pleased with myself when I use some patterned paper.  :)

That's it for now.  I'll be back tomorrow with a CASology post and then hopefully with a couple more cards later in the week.

CASology #129

Welcome to Week 129 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

There may be a few people scratching their heads at this cue word but I'm pretty sure that most of you will be aware of Darnell and her NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) challenges.  Darnell is hands down one of the funniest (and most supportive) cardmakers in our crafty corner of the Blogosphere and if you've never visited her over in her playhouse then you must go immediately and read a post or two.  Just be sure not to drink anything while reading her stories - it's a dangerous combo!  :)

Anyway Darnell is currently running the third installment of her NBUS challenge so we decided to play along with her.  The hello die you see on my card is one I just got for Christmas and the washi tape has been kicking around for well over a year before finally making it onto a project.

Are you ready to join us?  You can play along with CASology and with Darnell this week.  Just use a product on your card that you've never used before.  It can be something new you got recently or something covered with an inch of dust.  Just make sure this is it's maiden voyage!  Be sure to check out the brilliant designs from the rest of the DT gals and then get to work!

CASology #128

Welcome to Week 128 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

It's the first challenge of 2015!  You may have noticed that there have been a few changes here at CASology.  We are sad to say goodbye to Meghan McMillan but we are happy to welcome Hazel Hodgkins and Kymona Tracey to the design team!

After considering the new year, a hot night out and some fruit I finally settled on a wedding themed card since a wedding day is a pretty important date to remember.  I love this little Paper Smooches chapel and the PTI sentiment.  I use both of them often for wedding cards (although not always together).

And now it's your turn to show us what comes to mind when you see the word "date".  Be sure to check out all the fabulous inspiration from the design team and then play along!
