CASology #211

Welcome to Week 211 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Today's cue word is pretty broad which hopefully means that lots of you will play along!  :D

This Simon Says Stamp set was the first thing to come to mind for me.  I paper pieced the dog and pillow, popped everything up on foam tape and left plenty of "white" space
behind it all.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Musical Butterflies & Lanterns

Hello!  I'm here today with two CAS cards for 4 challenges.  First up is a one layer card made with Skipping Stones Designs stamps.  I used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch for my design and the butterflies have music notes inside of them so I am playing along with Addicted to CAS's music challenge.  I used some mini cube Distress Inks for the butterflies and I love the bright colours!  I was thinking I might make a set of these but change up the colours and sentiment.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (All from Heartsong) Skipping Stones Designs
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks) Ranger
Gems:  Recollections

For my next card I combined Lawnscaping's patterns challenge with the light source challenge at the Paper Players.  I paper pieced the lanterns with glittery DCWV papers and popped them up on foam tape for some dimension.  This is a pretty old LF set but one I've gotten plenty of use out of over the years.  You can see the sparkle a bit better
in this close up.

That's all for now.  Have a wonderful day!

Bunnies & Ice Cream

***This is my second post of the day.  For my CASology post please scroll down or

Hi there!  I have 2 more cards to share with you today. First up is a card using the sketch at the Taylored Expressions Share Joy challenge.  I adore the TE Grumplings animals.  There are a few different sets (all on my wish list of course) but at the moment I only have the Party Grumplings.  I hadn't inked up the bunny from this set so I decided today was his day.  I coloured him with Copics and used some bright patterned paper for the stripes behind him (I have no idea who made them - they're from about 2008!).

ETA:  Lindsey suggested I should also play along with the Naughty or Nice You're Number's Up challenge so I'm throwing my hat in the ring!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  Stash
Stamps:  (All from Party Grumplings) Taylored Expressions
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Die:  (Wonky Stitched Squares) My Favourite Things
Markers:  (RV13, Y17, YG23, V17, E37, C1, C3) COpic
Gems:  Recollections

Next up is a card for the Curtain Call challenge.  I know those are snow cones in the inspiration photo but I was never really a big fan of those.  I'd take ice cream over a snow cone any day!  Here I used bright colours and framed the Reverse Confetti sentiment with the matching ice cream dies.

That's all for today.  Have a lovely evening!

CASology #210

Welcome to Week 210 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

The word dizzy makes me think of spinning around and something that does a series amount of spinning is a tornado.  We don't have huge scary tornados here like in the US but we do have some.   They often occur within hurricanes (which we've had plenty of) but we're more likely to see waterspouts off of the north shore.  ( A waterspout is just a tornado over water instead of land).  I've only seen a few but they're pretty cool to watch (from a safe distance!)

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Watercolor & Cardstock

I was so happy to get back into the Craft Cave today for a good few hours.  I did 19 days in a row at work and when I'm in the thick of that I struggle to keep my mojo flowing.  Today was good though.  Despite feeling a bit rusty at first I managed to get a few cards made that I'm pretty happy with.

First up is an entry for the Addicted to Stamps and More! photo inspiration challenge.  I embossed the Skipping Stones Designs sentiment in white and then painted the background with Gansai Tambi paints.  The butterfly (also SSD) was embossed on vellum and popped up with strategically placed foam tape.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Watercolour) Ranger, (Black) Papertrey Ink, (Vellum)
Stamps:  (All from Always Here) Skipping Stones Designs
Ink:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Watercolors:  (Gansai Tambi) Kuretake
Die:  (Scalloped frame) WPlus9

Next is a really simple card using the palette from ColourQ.  I paper pieced the Mama Elephant Freestyle Florals and highlighted them with markers and Stickles.  I love this Essentials by Ellen sentiment die.  I cut it three times here and covered it with Glossy Accent.  I finished it off with faux enamel dots - hole punched card stock topped with Glossy Accents!  I'm also entering this in the Just Add Ink - Just Add "F" challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday Fabulous Florals challenge

That's it for tonight.  See you tomorrow for CASology!
