CASology #221

Welcome to Week 221 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

How adorable is this My Favourite Things piggy?  I love his little face so much!  He would certainly make me smile if I wasn't feeling so hot.  I kept him super simple by paper piecing him and then outlining him with a pink marker for a bit of dimension. Then I popped him up as well as the speech bubble and that was that!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Seahorse Sympathy

I'm so glad I got a bit of time to craft today because I love the current inspiration photo over at The Challenge - those pillows are gorgeous!  I love the colours and this gave me the perfect opportunity to ink up a NBUS Avery Elle stamp set - The Reef.  I embossed the seahorses in white and use some MFT dies to cut them out.  They're mounted flat while the sentiment is popped up and the gems add a little more dimension.  That's it for today.  Got a busy few days coming up but hopefully I'll get in some crafty time on Sunday.

CASology #220

Welcome to Week 220 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I'm arriving a day late for the challenge but the fact that I'm arriving at all is great news because it means we finally got our internet back!!  It's been out since we were hit by Hurricane Nicole last Thursday and although I've felt a bit crazy without it I seem to have have gotten a lot of miscellaneous odds and ends accomplished in the meantime...

Before I go any further I want to thank all of you who got in touch and wished us well and kept us in your thoughts and prayers.  It really was greatly appreciated.  Nicole was downgraded to a Category 3 at the last minute before reaching us and, despite being a direct hit, the island made out relatively well.  We lost 3 trees and the gutter from our kitchen roof but that was it for us.  We were all very lucky.

In fact we were so lucky that we were only without power for 6 hours and I didn't have to suffer the DEPRESSO of not having any coffee!  :D  I have a feeling this will be a busy week for us with this cue word as carmakers really seem to love their coffee and it looks like there's another challenge out there this week with the same cue word.  Great minds!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Pineapple

***This is my second post for the day.  Please scroll down or click here for previous post!***

Since we still have power I figured I'd post another card.  The weather was actually worse first thing this morning than it is now.  It's the literal calm before the storm...

This card is for the Pineapples challenge at Just Us Girls.  It gave me an excuse to ink up these NBUS Essentials by Ellen stamps.  Such a fun set!  I especially love this sentiment.  :)    I also love this Lil' Inker Designs cover up die and the way the yellow pineapple pops off that blue!

Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Midnight Muse) Stampin' Up, Vellum

Plaid Elephant & Hurricane

We're battening down the hatches here in anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Nicole.    Last I checked she's a Category 2 with a chance of upgrade to Category 3 arriving sometime tonight.  Not nearly the monster that Matthew was but it will still make for a stressful 24 hours.  I figured I'd get a post in today since I don't know what the power/internet situation will be tomorrow.

I'm playing along with the Oh Baby challenge at Cupcake Inspirations.  How cute is that My Favourite Things elephant?  I love him!  This was pretty quick to put together.  I used some Lawn Fawn plaid paper and an ancient Hero Arts sentiment (which is probably my favourite baby sentiment) and that was pretty much it!

Okay, back to last minute preparations.  Have a wonderful day!

CASology #219

Welcome to Week 219 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I don't have a whole lot of Halloween stamps but I did recently get the Stampers Anonymous Crazy Cats and the corresponding Crazy Things set which conveniently has a witch's hat in it.  I thought this kitty looked pretty spooked - spooked by something spooky!  :D  I did simple paper piecing with coloured cardstock and, although you can't really see it, I coloured the gem by the sentiment to match his hat.  I took some inspiration from the photo and colours over at Simon Say Wednesday challenge where there's a kitty with a purple hat.  I was pretty pleased with my card up until the point I had to photograph it but after several (million) attempts I finally managed to get this picture.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Lots of Pink

Hello there!  I've got two cards to share today.  First up uses the colours from ColourQ and the sketch from MFT Card Challenges.  I love this little winged piggie - so darn cute!  I paper pieced him, outlined him with a pink marker and added some sparkle to his wings with Star Dust Stickles.  I'm also going to play along with the CAS challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Textured White) Bazzill, (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pretty In Pink, Strawberry Slush, Brushed Silver, Basic Black) Stampin' Up

Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Dies:  (Circle) Avery Elle
Marker:  (R11) Copic
Glitter:  (Star Dust Stickles) Ranger
Gems:  Recollections

I started out with the above ColourQ colours for this card too but the inked strip came out a lot darker than I expected.  I used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch but I rotated it 180 degrees.  I'm also playing along with the current Time Out challenge - Theme of breast cancer awareness and/or friendship with the Optional Technique Twist of embossing and/or pink.  These stamps from Paper Smooches are part of a great set of encouraging words and images - perfect for the Time Out challenge.

That's it for today.  See you tomorrow for CASology!

Reindeer, Leaves & Flower

Hi there!  I had a little time to work on cards today and I started out by playing along with the design at Freshly Made Sketches.  I wanted to use some non-traditional Christmas colours so I dug out this ancient 12x12 sheet of Adornit paper and used it on the card base.  Then I tried to match my Copics to some of the colours from the paper and used them for the ornaments.  I added clear Wink of Stella to the ornaments and some Stickles to the baubles around his neck.  After going through all my Christmas sentiments I finally decided that the retro font of this one from Lawn Fawn worked well with the style of the reindeer.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper:  Adornit
Stamps:  (Reindeer) Tara Wakefield, (Sentiment from Let It Snow) Lawn Fawn
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Markers:  (R17, Y17, G00, G17, B95, E33, E35, 100) Copic
Glitter:  (Waterfall Stickles) Ranger, (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig
Gems:  Recollections
Other:  (Glossy Accents) Ranger

Next I played along with Anita's gorgeous card at Muse.  I was inspired by the overlapping leaf dies and it gave me the perfect opportunity to use these gorgeous leaves that were sent to me by the lovely Joyce.  I made a whole bunch of cards with this sentiment a while back and I'm glad I was reminded of it - I think it's a good one for a lot of occasions.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Kraft) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Vintage Clocks) The Craft's Meow
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Leaves) Papertrey Ink
Gems:  Recollections

Finally, I recently got a couple of Winnie & Walter stamp sets and wanted to play along with some of their World Card Making Day challenges.  In the end I only had time to play along with one and chose Heather's Pinspiration challenge.  I love the yellow, black and white on that gorgeous cake.  I used a flower and leaf from two different sets and realized those sets don't have any sentiments so I used a Mama Elephant stamp and die cut to create the Happy Birthday.  The scalloped panel is also W&W.  I'm going to make a few more of these in different colours - I think they'd make a fun set!

That's it for now.  Hope your week gets off to a wonderful start!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight, Basic Black) Stampin' Up

CASology #218

Welcome to Week 218 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

These NBUS Whimsy stamps and dies immediately came to mind when I saw this week's cue word as a crutch is a very literal means of support!  Each crutch is made up of 3 layers of die cuts to give them depth and the gems add a pop of contasting colour to the teal card base.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Elephant, Kitty & Flowers

I'm back with a few more cards from my crafting session over the weekend.  First is a card for the Fusion challenge.  I used the sketch but also incorporated the stripes, teal and pink from the inspiration photo.  How sweet is that Whimsy Stamps elephant?  I love his little face!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Textured White) Bazzill, (Bermuda Bay, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight) Stampin' Up

Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Stitched circle) Lil' Inker Designs
Glitter:  (Yellow Stickles) Ranger

Next is a card using the sketch at My Favourite Things.  I stuck very close to the design using a Heart Stax die and Copic coloring one of the many cute kitty images that MFT has.  The white panel and the kitty are popped up on foam tape.  I'm also going to enter this in the Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Basic Black) Stampin' Up

Finally is a card for the latest ColourQ challenge.  I took inspiration from the photo as well as the colours and created a wreath using PTI leaves, Lil' Inker Designs flowers and an Altenew sentiment.

That's it for today.  I'll see you tomorrow at CASology!
